Stencilling concrete floor, anyone done it?

I have two concrete floors, one in my hall and one in my kitchen. I'm skint and can't afford tiles and wondered if anyone had experience of stencilling a tile pattern on concrete. If they have what paint did you use?
I'm considering Annie Sloan chalk paint or F&B floor paint, or even eggshell.
Oh, and did you varnish it when it was done?

You can acid stain concrete and even make it look like tiles.
Try searching it in Pinterest and it'll come up with some tutorials

ordinary concrete wears with foot traffic, and constantly makes dust.

try this:

sweep it once, and collect the dust in a dustpan. Tip it onto a plate.

Sweep it again, tip the dust onto a plate

Sweep it again, tip the dust onto a plate.

If it makes more dust every time you sweep it, I think it would need an epoxy sealant, or a garage floor paint, to stop it. They are expensive. Ordinary paint is designed for looking at, not for walking on. If your floor is very dense, and was polished, it might be OK.

PigletJohn, doesn't sound like a good idea then :(

I've checked out the acid and it looks a bit complicated, i'll do some more research into it though. JazzAnnNonMouse have you actually done it?
