Carpet colour to go with wedgewood dark blue walls

All suggestions gratefully accepted.

Everything I look at seems too grey/purple and ivory or white isn't a goer due to there being a small child inhabiting the house too.

Does it have to be carpet a wooden floor with accent rugs coukd look lovely.

Either that or a mink colour.

I agree wooden floor would be lovely. We have used a carpet, a wool velvet, from John Lewis, in a colour called Russett. It is a mink/brown colour but I have used it with mid blue walls in a bedroom and it looks great.

I would love for it to be a wooden floor, but DH isn't having any of it as he doesn't like them. Sad

In fairness, I got to have them in the last house (were there ten years), so I suppose it's his 'turn'.

Thank you - shall do some investigating on mink. Smile

My DH doesn't get a turn! He concentrates on what he is good at - earning money and I do what I am good at - interior design and home decisions. If you really prefer wood, you may find cleaning a carpet with a small child annoying! My Nanny allowed my toddler DD (many years ago now) to play shopping. Fine, but a tin of black treacle was put upside down in the toy shopping trolley and the lid came off. The black treacle was in a puddle on my lovely new carpet! How is wished I had chosen wood!

Stone colour Or if you like to be 'on trend' in interiors matching walls and floors is very popular atm. Blue and green also look good together if you can pull the rest of the scheme together but it is tricky. What furniture do you have? Wood and a large persian rug would look best

noddyholder · 22/04/2014 10:43

this is very nice Classic but still cool and elegant

mrsbucketxx · 22/04/2014 13:13

blue and green could look like sky and grass though noddy Grin

Grin not if done well.

Will also look at stone - I am fairly confident I would get the green wrong!

It's for a bedroom and, while there's a light pine bed that's staying, and a small white wardrobe, everything else needs to be bought. There's also been a request for gold/silver stars on the walls though...

Osborne and little do a lovely star wallpaper I have used it and love it Etolie lots of colour ways

I'd go for a pale colour but just ensure it is 'bleach cleanable'. We had Koset (sp?) bleach cleanable carpets at the last house and they were fab. A quick wipe cleaned up any stains including a takeaway Madras DH managed to drop.

noddyholder · 23/04/2014 11:11

We have a bleachable light grey and it was brilliant when our cat was sick (bleugh!)

MoonlightandRoses · 23/04/2014 22:35

noddy that paper is fabulous, funnily enough it's quite similar to the decal stars I was considering 'throwing' at the walls too here - which I now have my suspicions about...

Have to get both carpets, curtains and final wall decor confirmed this week-end, so will be back in a few weeks once everything's in.

Thanks to all for the suggestions, will be wandering round the various carpet providers with swatch and ideas in hand. Grin
