Where is nice near Irlam?

Hello, 1st time posting on here but I need some help! We currently live in the Lake District, but my DH has been working in Irlam for the last 8 months and just home at weekends - which isn't ideal as we have a 2 year old and one on the way. Anyway, I'm feeling totally gutted about leaving our current area (we've accepted an offer on our house - which is too small for us now anyway) and quite stressed about where we should be looking for a new home. We have been focussing on Grappenhall as I like the idea of the community feel etc there, plus good schools and walkable to Stockton Heath and we had an offer accepted last Friday..however yesterday the vendor pulled out - changed her mind about selling :-(. So now we are back to the drawing board. We need to be out of of house by August for buyers, plus hubby's relocation package expires Sept - and baby due early Dec! So need to get cracking...any advice on good locations with plenty to do for toddlers and good schools gratefully received. I want to live somewhere I can walk most places...oh and we need at least 3 beds and a garden and parking for circa £205....not asking much then! Thank you x

There have been quite a few threads recently about relocating to South Manchester / North West.

I would suggest for your budget you look at Urmston (or roundabouts) - as it is very close to Irlam, good schools etc. Family oriented. Grappenhall / Stockton Heath nice too but they're further away (I think!) and don't have quite as good schooling. Different areas though, with a different feeling, so it depends on what you prefer!

South Manchester

Didsbury v Wilmslow

Greater Manchester

I was going to suggest urmston too - my sister just moved there from irlam as the schools are much better.

Urmston or. Flixton. Great schools. Near Irlam and motorway.

Lots of different sorts of houses. Family orientated. Nice parks.

Didsbury, Wilmslow very expensive.

You will get a decent house for £200 thou in Urmston. A 3 bed trad semi or a nice terrace.
