Option A, house in the country with tiny village school (31 pupils) and high school(200 pupils) nearest city Inverness. No public transport to talk of but very beautiful surroundings. Have friends within half hour.

Option B, house on outskirts of town needs complete renovation but all within budget. Bigger schools(350 primary and 800 secondary) but have good reputation. Public transport good and can get train to Glasgow every half hour. Have family/friends within half an hour.

It is more the locations than the actual houses. But thought a bit of house porn would be appreciated!

Opinions on areas/location for raising a family please!

For the sake of your kids - option B. Option A looks far too lonely and isolated.

AnnaFiveTowns · 16/04/2014 00:05

Sorry, posted twice. Also, I prefer the house itself (B).

Flux700 · 16/04/2014 08:10

I'm torn. I much prefer a but a bus route is important.

A community without any kind of bus route USA dying community. Very difficult for young people as it is next to impossible for them to socialise or get to school/ work independently.

OnGoldenPond · 16/04/2014 09:12

Yikes! That was - a community without a bus route is a dying community.

Pimpf · 16/04/2014 09:16

Def option b. I prefer the house and location

Mocker · 16/04/2014 09:36

Yep, another vote for B for all of the reasons given before.

We were in a similar situation - I longed for a house in a rural area. My friends advised against so we bought in a large village with good transport links. It isn't as pretty but is a better place to live (and means ds can get the bus to the cinema, bowling etc when he's older)
