Hi
We will need to redo out kitchen in the next year or so and dh and I both hate built in kitchens and would much rather have standalone stuff. Anyone else chosen this over built in? What sort of things do you have? Did you go for a particular look/style?

My mum always hated fitted kitchen so we didn't have one. We had an aga (it was a farm house) and a stand alone cooker. We had a welsh dresser which stored all the tins and packets. All the crockery lived in a old meat safe, which the kettle and toaster was on top of. I think there was another tallish cupboard which was used as a work top and storage for glasses. The kitchen table was used for prep. All the furniture was all old reclaimed stripped pine, that kind of stuff.
It was lovely, even though it was 30 years ago.
