Curtains or blonds for floor length windows?

We have just bought a new build. The living room and dining room have very large window/ doors. I will try and upload a picture. There is a lot of light in the house (photo a bit dark though) and I want to keep it as light as possible. It is very private and the windows are at the back so I won't have neighbours peering through the window. I think curtains will be too heavy and not too sure about blinds. Whatever I choose I want them to be pushed back during the day.

Any ideas? My DH jus talking about electronic blinds but I think that sounds like just another bit of tech to go wrong.

Windows/ doors are about 3 metres wide and 2.25 high at a guess. There are 2 this big. The furnishings in the house will be quite modern and minimalist.

I am shortly going to have the same dilemma for very similar doors - I think I'm going to go for 'perfect fit blinds' as recommended by someone on another thread. There seem to be quite a few different companies that make them to measure so you can just google for the most suitable.

Yeap Perfect Fit blinds, if you get pleated you can mount them upside down so you can pull them up rather than than down. You could also have a very long curtain pole which overlaps at the sides by about 10 inches, this would give room to pull the curtains right back so none of the window is obscured. Depends what sort of look you are going for.

We have similar doors in our house. The original owners had very heavy curtains but we took them down to decorate the room & realised how much lighter the room looked.

We've had perfect fit blinds in the kitchen but wanted something a bit different for the lounge. We've just had these fitted www.luxaflex.co.uk/products/indoor/twist-roller-blinds/ and love them.

Can have them completely up out of the way, or down but open to let in some light, or twist them closed for privacy and cosiness on a night. There's plenty of colours/designs too - ours are a silvery grey.

Blonds would work to lighten the room. Maybe go for a warmer honey blond over the peroxide bleached look to add some depth though?

We have a window/door very similar to that in our kitchen/diner.

I find in the night-time, it looks and feels a bit cold and soulless without anything there. and I worry about murderers spying on me even though we are not overlooked The doors also let a fair amount of heat out in the winter.

I have a very long curtain pole and have two sets of plain floor length ikea curtains on them. They are fairly thin and unlined (kind of heavy cotton) and so push right back leaving the doors fully in view.
They also have the benefit of shading the room from the sun in the peak of summer when it gets boiling hot.

Do you not think the 'blonds' will get tired standing in front of the windows all day and night.
I think curtains would be more humane.

I have roller blinds on my ceiling to floor windows and doors. As the floor length is about 5 metres I would have needed acres of curtain and when drawn back they would cover up too much of the windows blocking light.

The width of the windows/ doors are actually 7 metres across so curtains for that width would have blocked the light when NOT pulled across.
The roller blinds are great. I hate vertical blinds. They look very 'officey'

Going against the grain here. If you're not overlooked I don't think I'd have anything except a couple of outside lights so you don't have a just black outside at night.

I'd hate to think there might be somebody looking in that I am unaware of. Scaredy cat me!
