is it possible to eradicate damp?

We viewed a house which had damp on the interior conservatory wall. We can't buy a house with existing damp due to health (respiratory) issues but the vendor is apparently willing to get it sorted subject to us making am offer. Is it possible to completely eradicate damp? The estate agent told us it was because of condensation on the inside of the conservatory building up which suggests ventilation isn't great.

of course, you just have to find the cause and correct it.

Most often it is a combination of insufficient ventilation, and excessive sources of moisture. Chief among these is wet washing draped around, but it could also be building defects like a conservatory with a damp floor due to no DPM, or leaks from roof or plumbing.

Conservatories are most often built to very economical standards, and commonly have defects such as poor flashing and sealing. They also reduce ventilation of the house because the enclose doors and windows.

If the vendor offers to get a damp-proofing company in, they will probably use a chemical treatment, which will have no effect on any of the causes I mention.
