Sunpipe/light tube

Does anyone have any experience with these? We've just moved into a property in which the previous owners have put a velux window into the loft and replaced the loft hatch with obscured glass, in an attempt to let light into a very dark landing. It doesn't have much effect however, and so I've been doing some research on light tubes/sun pipes to see if it would be worth installing one. Also interested in the rough cost! Thanks in advance for sharing Smile

We have one, they're fantastic and I'd definitely recommend them. We get a good amount of light even though it had to be fitted facing north.

I think it cost us about £200 for the tube and the same again to fit. However, we already had builders in and scaffolding up for a loft conversion, so the fitting could end up a fair bit more than this if it's all you are getting done.

Thanks for that, is it a job that a DIYer could attempt would you say? As we've already got the window so it will just be a case of installing the pipe...

We have one. Have as few kinks or bends as possible. The more bends, the less light you get.

We have one too and it's great. Ours is a semi that has been extended to the side so there is no hall window. Because of the roof construction it is fitted on an East facing side but it makes a huge difference.
