because I can't find the thread (I've done a search) but I need to know about pendant light fittings

"Pendant lights were discussed on genre a few months ago and I think it was pigletjohn who said you could get a light fitting that enabled you to effectively plug the pendant light into it, so you could, if you wanted to, have a long pendant or short ordinary light above the table"

Yes.

IIRC MEM and Crabtree make them.

It is not an ordinary 3-pin plug, it is a ceiling rose that can be partly detached.

Hello PigletJohn, I've been trying to find that post to see what you are saying. We are having the kitchen renovated and trying to guess where to put the pendant light fittings.

We do like the Scandinavian style of a light with a long lead or a short lead (don't know if I'm describing that properly) but we can't actually place where the table is going to go at the moment and we need to guess.

You can put cup-hooks in the ceiling above the table positions, and hang the flex off them. You will need a proper electrical wholesaler, or an electrician over the age of 14 will know them.

Try tlc-direct

They call it a plug-in ceiling rose and carry the Ashley brand. Get at least one spare in case of breakage.

Thanks. I'm not very good when it comes to these sorts of things. I have an electrician coming to do this but want to give proper instructions. I don't know exactly where the kitchen table is going to be but but I need to get the electrics done before the kitchen table moves in.

Away to google "plug-in ceiling rose Ashley"

here

MEM and Crabtree are better quality than most, if you can find them.
