Are hot/cold water filter taps fast enough?

We're renovating our kitchen and the plan is for softened water to kitchen plus mains to a hot/cold water filter but DH thinks they are going to flow too slowly.

Please tell me what your experience is (so that I can convince him) (or not!)

Having a water softener can be a great idea, although is only needed if you have hard water. They will also add a lot of sodium to the water. As for the water filter, I don't know of many water filters that work with both hot and cold water, as most are designed for use with cold water. But, if they are just carbon types, it shouldn't slow the flow that much, maybe by 10-20%.
