Kitchen decisions

DP and I have just bought a doer upper. We are knocking walls through down stairs to have the kitchen/diner/living room all open plan. I had my heart settled on a grey kitchen with the colour theme being grey and yellow throughout the downstairs of the house. We are on a budget of about 7k for the kitchen and MIL has informed us that homemase is the cheapest for kitchens. They don't have anything grey within our budget but there was an ivory kitchen I quite liked.
Would ivory go with grey and yellow? And has anyone had a homebase kitchen? The kitchen we will probably go for is in the hygena range.
If anyone has any other suggestions, that would be great. We have had a quote from howdens but their quote was 10k. Does anyone know if they can be haggled with?

Have you looked at IKEA kitchens? They have grey ones? And I thought ikea were the cheapest ones around.

Ikea do a nice grey one - Bodbyn. Ours gets installed next week Smile

Howdens has a range called 'Burford Grey' which is a fairly standard shaker style in a soft grey colour. I was quoted £5k all in for a galley plus breakfast bar including fridge freezer but not cooker. The Ikea Bodbyn one is much more glam though and not much more expensive (only about £300 difference for the same layout). I've seen DIY Kitchens recommended on here (web company) and their website is excellent.

That quote for the Howdens kitchen included the installation by my builders, btw.

I hadn't thought about ikea. Will go down today for a look.
Do howdens give different discounts for different trade accounts? we only set ours up a few months ago and haven't used it yet.

Thank you to the person who suggested ikea! Just been down there and got a quote. 5k including appliances and it's exactly what I was looking for :)

Great news! I've found ikea a massive pain in the arse to deal with but it's worth it for a kitchen you like within your budget!

Yeah it was a major faff! We were there 4 hours!
