Shower head dribbling, advice needed.

After you helped me with my fly problem I now have another DIY SOS! Have a fixed in position shower head (on a long arm). Took the head off (it screws on/off) to descale it. Screwed back on and the water is just dribbling out. It's definitely screwed on properly and tightly and water coming out of the main pipe fine so what could be wrong? Any tips?

The rubber washer might be displaced. If you take the spray head off, does water gush from the pipe?

Was it working OK before you disturbed it?

Thanks Piglet, yes water gushes from the pipe with the shower head off and yet it was fine before we removed it to descale it.

is the water coming out in volume, but not squirting; or is there little volume as well? if you fill a bucket under the drencher, how long does it take?

have you twisted the pipe? My shower taps do this....the flexible pipe inside the metal one seems to move independently and I presume the kink restricts the water.

Dangle the shower head so it hangs free, and it should turn itself and unravel.

Thanks both. cats its not that type of shower, it is a fixed overhead one. piglet its dribbling out of the head, no volume, so there is something going on between it leaving the outlet pipe - which is fine - and it going through the head, as if its a loose connection or blockage in the head but not sure how?

Take the head off again and look for an obstruction. Test the flow from the pipe again while the head is off. Compare its litres-per-minute flow with head on and off.

Look at the pinholes against the light to verify they are open.
