Does anyone have any experience of one of these & if so would you recommend it? TYIA....our kitchen designers are charging £1100 for the newest model....

you can get quite a few kettles for that!! are you at home all day making cups of tea for a house full of people, all day, everyday?!
seriously, are you sure you need a constant stream of scalding hot water ? it's running costs would be interesting to see too!

I looked into these last year when doing my kitchen and decided against it.

I can't say I feel I am missing out. Then again you don't miss what you have never had. I am sure if I had installed one I would be raving about it, not least because I would have to love it to justify the cost.

My reasons for not having one were partly aesthetics. I just didn't like the taps. The all in one units were too modern and the single units didn't go with the tap I was planning on having.

They do save time but really I am not that busy that I can't wait for a kettle to boil. I have an induction hob and a kettle boils in seconds when using the boost function. By the time I have picked a mug and a tea bag, got the milk from the fridge the water is ready. Even a large pan of water for pasta boils quickly. It's not as if I am just standing around waiting for water to boil, I get on with other prep.

I also have a thing about water being freshly boiled especially for tea, and I am not sure how fresh the water in these units is.

We've got a Quooker tap. I love it.

You'll find plenty of people who don't have one who will tell you it is a waste of money. You may also find people who have an inferior imitation who isn't impressed, but I'm confident that not one person who's got a genuine one will tell you they regret it.

we've just got, though not installed, Franke 3 in 1 tap, so no need for any other taps. can't comment on if it's worth it but I cannot wait!

We design Quooker taps into most kitchens we supply and swear by them. They are absolutely fabulous. No other hot/boiling water tap comes close to the Quooker on performance, reliability and quality.

But are they a thousand pounds worth of absolutely fabulous? I think not.

Depends on how you value your time. No its not worth 200 of £5 tesco value kettles or even 5 of £200 designer kettles. But if you can save 10 minutes a day waiting for water to boil in kettle or on a hob and value your time at even £30 an hour, its not hard to see the payback.

And this does not factor in energy saving from the wasted energy from boiling an overfull kettle etc.

The Quooker is not for everyone and certainly a luxury in a £15k kitchen, but an essential appliance in a £25k kitchen

We had a Quooker installed in our new kitchen in the autumn. I really love it, I don't worry about the children getting scalded by the water as it is a separate tap, you have to push down and turn it to use it so you can't just knock it on by mistake. It supposedly costs less to run than a kettle, I think they claim 3p per day.

wow ? 3p a day !! i might just install one to fill my wood burning hot tub ! be quicker and cheaper than burning logs !!! mixed with some cold water too of course !!!

We are getting one in our new kitchen, but have gone for the new Fusion which is a 3 in 1, so you don't need a normal hot/cold tap as well.

By the time you take off what we would have paid for a normal tap, it worked out about £600 more, and I thought it was worth it. We have a lot of cups of tea in our house!

We've had one for about 5 years now and love it. Ours cost around £700 I think. Worth every penny.
There are cheaper alternatives but none with boiling water. Relatives of ours bought a cheaper brand and it turned out to be a false econoy as theirs needs frequent filter changes (expensive filters).

I don't know about the taps but we had a boiler thing tap with boiling water when I was a student and it was fab - things like tea, pasta, potatoes... Just made it easier
