So are deciding which floor to lay in a new bedroom (it's the master of the house) we had decided on an engineered oak floor but have just been sent a sample of a soiled board which is cheaper.

I'd love to know how others have made this choice and if you are happy with the end result. Thanks

The real deal. I could never understand why all the replica/fake stuff had grains and texture to it when the real stuff is soooooo beautifully smooth. Expensive but I love it!

We have engineered oak throughout the downstairs living area, including the kitchen. Very happy with it.

Engineered.
More stable and won't shrink.

We've got engineered oak over underfloor heating in the kitchen as solid oak doesn't do well over the heating system. It has held up well (5 years so far, two dc, three cats, plenty of spills and you come into the kitchen from the garden so loads of traffic, we spend about 80% of our time in there as we have sofas and tv in kitchen too) - my only complaint is it is starting to look a little orangey. Will probably have it sanded and oiled soon - you can do it up to 4 times with the board we bought. We got it from here HTH
