Quotes for repointing and redecorating exterior of house - SW London

I'd really appreciate any views on whether these first quotes are about what we should expect to pay.

Large Victorian semi - so three walls - only the front is painted, rest is brick. The main work is prep and painting of all woodwork, filling etc. Hasn't been done for a while, but not in terrible condition. First quote £3K for redecoration, £1.2K for scaffolding, which is a reqt I think - it's also awkward access wise with power lines to avoid, and very close neighbours.

The side wall ideally needs patch repointing at the same time, some parts are in a poor state and we'll have scaffolding up. First quote is over £4K to repoint whole wall (waiting for them to requote for just the parts needing repair). I'm wondering if they are quoting high because of access issues or whether this sounds about right. I know it's a tough and long job if done well.

I wasn't expecting to add £8K to the mortgage - any feedback (or recommendations for alternative quotes)?
Thanks!

Decorating does sound a bit 'toppy'. We paid £3,200, but ours is a smallish detached, has multi paned sash windows (lots) and was in a bit of a state. Unfortunately cannot recommend ours because they over painted on the glass and refused to remove it! Otherwise, they were really good!

I got other quotes that were similar (but were larger outfits so included VAT) from rated people. I've also had other very good tradespeople from rated people, so use them automatically now. Have never had a repointing quote but 'ouch' that sounds high.

With the repointing, make sure it's done in a lime based mortar- cement wont do the bricks any good.

Thanks amazing, that's useful. Sounds like redecorating quote may be reasonable.

Olivia thanks I'm aware re lime, most interested to know what sort of price to expect.
Anyone else? Info, recommendations gratefully rec/d

We've just been quoted around £3k for side and back of house for repointing. We will need scaffolding for access issues and thought it sounded expensive but perhaps not?
