Worried about getting ripped off by plumber-West London

A couple of years ago we paid out £700 to a plumber to fix our boiler. He didn't actually fix it in the end and we had British Gas fix it under their fixed price scheme. Fast forward to this evening and our heating is working but have no hot water.

British Gas are coming out again tomorrow but the fixed price deal only covers the first half hour for £89 and it then jumps to £100 per hour. Does this seem reasonable?

Does anyone have a recommendation for a decent pumber in West London (Hillingdon area) just in case?

I'd stick with British gas to be honest, especially if you don't know anything about plumbers. I like pimlico plumbers personally, but only because I can tell them exactly what to do and what not to do. It doesn't sound like anything complicated, but you may want to consider signing up for some kind of boiler care scheme. Or a new boiler of course, with a guarantee!

If you are on Facebook and know any Pinner folks ask if they can add you to Pinner Mums group- it is a brilliant, reliable source of local recommendations.

Iggity, I'm in Ruislip and have a number of good tradesmen we use, including a plumber. Feel free to PM me if you need anything.
