Anyone ever had four in the chain?

If anyone has ever had four in the chain, how long did it take to complete from offers being accepted. Just wondering if I could get an average.

Husband reckons he wants to move during the spring, ie by May but I think it'll be more likely June and hopefully no later than July.

Yes 4 in ours. Took 4 months although the bottom of the chain fell apart 10 weeks in!

Hate to say this, but five and a half months in my case (but complicated divorce higher up the chain, which delayed things).

Yes, recently moved as part of a chain of 4. Offer to completion was 9 weeks with Christmas in the middle (which effectively meant 2 weeks where nothing happened). All parties wanted to move quickly and did the things they needed to do (forms for solicitors etc) as soon as they got them.

Previous move with no chain took 5 months!

4 in our last chain
it took 3 months with 1 or 2 complications on the way.

We just moved, had a chain of 7. Went ok, although we lost our buyer but sold again 2 days later and got the chain straight back up again, took 4 months.

4 in last chain. Horrendous with lying estate agents, probate not granted, mortgages not approved (this is all the others in the chain, not us!) 6 months from when chain was complete to moving, 9 months if you count 2 other chains collapsing. Never again!

I'm sure you'll have a much smoother ride though!

4 in a chain and took 5 months. Not helped by bickering between solicitors and those at the very bottom of the chain deciding to go on holiday when we were all ready to exchange and complete, delaying everything by two weeks. We also had an unhelpful estate agent making up stories to our buyers till DH was very rude to her.

We moved last week, four in the chain, two of whom were cash buyers.

I was not pregnant when we accepted an offer on our house, and am now 32 weeks Sad no particular difficulties either, just the top two of the chain taking a while to find somewhere to buy

4 in chain. Took 4 months. Not painless either but we got there,

Madmog · 11/03/2014 14:54

Thanks for your replies. Four months looks like the average then.

4 in the chain here too. Took 8 soul destroying months. But we love our house!

We had three in the chain - and it took from late June to early September. These things always take longer than you anticipate.
