Building Warrants Scotland

We had plan draw and were granted a building warrant to knock down the wall between our kitchen and dining room, install a new window, a set of French doors and build some decking (as French doors need a step down to the garden). Now all the quotes have come in we are not sure we can afford to do all the work at once. So we are planning not to do the French doors and decking straight away. Does anyone know whether we need to reapply for the warrant and therefore have new plans drawn? I will ask the council if they ever answer the phone.....

In our council area (in scotland) BW lasts for 3years. You can then ask to extend it (when it is still in force) for a period. We have gone ahead with some of the work in our BW and plan to do the rest later. If you think you don't want to do it, you can apply for an amendment to warrant and this then lets you get your completion certificate. (Obviously get my advice checked by your council!!)

You have saved me asking the exact same question! We will probably split our work into two phases.

Thanks guys. Glad to know it is not just us! I will try the council again tomorrow and let you know
