What's nice in splashbacks these days and where to get?

I need to replace my badly stained stainless steel splashback. I could just replace it with an identical one which gets glued directly to the wall, but I was wondering, what else is there that looks nice and won't break the bank?

The glass ones have been around for a while now. Would you be interested in standard tiles?
