safety latches for upvc windows

We have large, low upvc windows which open in such a way that it would be very easy for a child to climb out. Can anyone recommend a safety latch or similar so that we can start opening our windows? It's driving me mad, I love fresh air! Thanks in advance.

I can't say we have purchased/fitted yet, but we will be getting boa restrictor for upstairs before the summer as the baby now walks (well, jogs) everywhere and the windows are low.
