Hi, in the very early stages of agreeing sale prices, but can someone give me an idea of removal costs please.

We're in a large two bedroom house, with conservatory furniture, so guess we've got nearly as much as a three bed. Hopefully we can secure new property which is 0.5 miles away.

We have been quoted £560 last week. That's for a two bed moving 20-30 miles away. We will be boxing our stuff ourselves.

In the south west if that's relevant.

I paid £550 for removal of 200 miles, packing ourselves (don't underestimate how long that takes and how many boxes you need to get from freecycle and supermarkets!)

about the same amount of stuff as a usual 3-bedder.

We are in south east, and moved beginning of january. We paid £450 for moving a two bed house, and another £250 for packing which was worth every penny!

HearMyRoar · 02/03/2014 20:28

We're paying just under £600 to move a 2 bed flat about 2 miles. This includes packing as I just can't be bothered :o

We paid 1400 to move 100 miles, sounds like we overpaid but the other quote was even higher!

£850 last week to move locally (Berkshire) including packing which was about £250 and well worth the money as we had 9 days notice in the end.

Prices vary so much! We're moving 100 miles from a 3 bed next weekend and are paying £650 including packing to a company I saw recommended on here. Most quotes were nearer £1500, though, so I hope he does a good job...

supadupapupascupa · 02/03/2014 21:35

£450 to move 60 miles and included taking down and putting back up wardrobes, and a piano. Large 3 bed house. They also helped finish packing up the kitchen.

Cadbury's Inspirations!!! They were the ones in the chest of drawers. My boyfriend bought me a box and I loved them!! {{http://forums.doyouremember.co.uk/threads/12157-Box-of-chocolates-with-3-or-4-drawers VIDEO HERE]]

Sorry wrong thread! Grin

We are moving from SW London in zone 6 to E14. Any recommendations?

I got quotes online for £1200+ Hmm
2 bed house, not many furniture - one dining table, one desk, a fridge, two bedside tables, 2 TVs and HiFi system.

Madmog · 05/03/2014 10:30

Thanks for all your replies. As we're moving locally and packing ourselves, it sounds like a budget of around £700 will cover it.

Wow!!! I got a quote before of £320 when moving locally. I don't know if it would have ended up more as we didn't actually end up moving then but this is what I have been budgeting now that we are.

A friend of mine hired 2 men and a van for the big stuff and a van themselves for all of the boxes. Cost £175. Could be a cheaper alternative.

Whyteboardmarker, we're moving on Monday with a guy based in Chiswick (see my earlier post - charging £650 to pack and move us 100 miles) so I'll let you know if he's good if you like??
