Dyson cylinder vacuum - can I repair it myself?

My trusty Dyson cylinder - 6 years old - started to make choking type noises. I gave it a good clean - first time ever (hadn't realised all the parts came off) - very therapeutic, but its still struggling massively to suck up.

Am I missing something or do I need to pay someone to fix it?

Does it work if you remove the turbine head? Mine started making a horrendous noise but only when the head was on.

I was just inside 5 years so Dyson sent me a new one.

Probably not that helpful but do try it without the head and see if it picks up properly then.

Call their service dept. they will talk you through a check list. It may be possible to fix it that way. If not, they may be able to work out what bit has gone wrong, and you will be able to order a replacement part.
