access to pipes in bathroom

We are putting down new floors in the attic bathroom and have settled on some vinyl tiles. We've had off and on troubles with the shower not draining properly. I think we have it sorted now but am worried that it is going to get clogged as soon as we put the new floors down.

Does anyone have a "hatch" or trap door in the bathroom floor to allow access to underfloor pipes? Nothing is coming up in my google searches which seems odd as surely this is a common concern? Do you think my handy man can just rig something up? The hatch would be in a space between the bath and shower so off to the side and not somewhere you would walk ordinarily.
