Where to stay when working in Slough?

We young couple moving to Slough from Manchester. We are looking nice/safe place where 1/2 bed flat can be rented for not more than 750-800 GBP. And also having good transport links to Slough as we do not have car. And where I can get to do some part time work as well.

Depends what you mean by nice. Slough isn't salubrious, but if you lived in the centre of Slough you'd have lots of shops, access to rail to get into London, and so on.

Slough goes on for miles though, so you might be working a couple of miles away from the station, which wouldn't be very convenient.

Anywhere but Slough. Twyford, Maidenhead, Windsor.

Sorry, crossed posts. That address is under a mile west of the town, so if you basically look at flats west of the train station then you should be in a convenient location.

I wouldn't consider staying in some village without a car. If you can walk to work and walk to the shops and restaurants in Slough (lots of Pakistani grill places), then that's probably going to give best quality of life.

There's a big Tesco here:

maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=Tesco+Slough+Wellington+Extra,+Wellington+Street,+Slough&hl=en&ll=51.510472,-0.590676&spn=0.006904,0.013078&sll=51.510098,-0.591191&sspn=0.006931,0.013078&oq=tesco+sl&t=h&dirflg=w&hq=Tesco+Slough+Wellington+Extra,&hnear=Wellington+St,+Slough,+United+Kingdom&z=17

which is pretty good, and then basically all the normal shops are on the other side of the A4 from that Tesco, where the High Street is.

I'd second Maidenhead or Burnham. Windsor's nice but pricey. If you're looking for part time work yourself there are loads of big businesses along the Bath Road in Slough so you might find something there, or if not the you could look in Reading.
