Sash windows- are there any kind of safety locks available for these?

We are moving into a rental house and it has sash windows. I have 3 children, one of whom is a toddler, the others are 9 and 11 so slightly more sensible (apparently)
Are there any kind of safety locks I can buy to go on the windows so only the top bit can be pulled down?

We have sash stops, which stop it from opening more than about 3 inches (for security really rather than the kids to be honest, who have never thought to try and open). SDS sell them. Sure other places too. And we also have a normal swivel lock thing. Will find and post linkie...

I've never actually set foot in the new house, my husband went to view it as he's living in Cornwall at the moment-I'm in Lancashire with the children.

I'd seen it on rightmove and sent him to view it, he said it's very nice inside. Although when I asked him he couldn't remember much, other than 'our corner sofa should fit'!
He can't remember if it has open fires, what colour the rooms are etc

We have the same sash stops as fizzly linked to, they work fine though you'd prob need permission from landlord if you're renting as need to drill a hole in the window frame

The dual screw in that link, if you have one each side, enables you to lock the upper sashes tightly together (prevents rattling) in either a shut or a slightly open position.

You may find the windows already have something similar fitted. They need to be put in by someone who can drill neat and accurate holes and will follow the instructions.

Flitch fasteners are almost entirely useless for keeping burglars out.
