So I'm looking for houses, as one does, and I find an utter monstrosity of design. When they say 'in need of renovation' they're really not kidding!

The patterns!!!

Or am I just really out of touch with the current vogue for clashing decor?

Either way, I had to share it!

I thought this was going to be about houses with boils

well it was fashionable at the time! It reminds me of my childhood home so I quite like it.

Ach, that's an old lady's house, that is. When the rooms were stuffed with had furniture in them, it wouldn't have looked as bad.

Sadly not. I just couldn't think of a better way of describing it. Some of those pattern combinations are headache-worthy.

The scariest thing is that this is pretty much the only property in the area I could possibly afford, so I'm trying to work out whether I can also afford the refurbishment needed to make it inhabitable.

I was going to say that seems like a good price for Burghfield! I would do it if you can afford to buy it many do it up completely. Where else around Reading are you looking? (I am in West reading)

Onesleeptillwembley · 11/02/2014 18:16

I can just see Jim and Barb sat in there. Shock

Mortimer or Burghfield would be ideal but is looking quite unlikely. I'm in Tadley at the moment, but would rather be in a smaller village, which seems to push the price up and stamps down the number of available places!
