How would I go about replacing a fence?

Our dividing fence at the front of the house has taken a battering in the storms and is about to give up. On closer inspection it doesn't seem in great condition, so think it is going to be a case of replacing rather than repairing. How do I go about this? Do I find someone to do the work and they source the materials or do I source the materials and then get someone to do the work? It's quite small - about 40" by 14ft. And should I wait until this shitty weather is over before getting started?

Thanks.

Get a reputable fencing contractor to have a look. Tell him the style of fencing you like and he will say if it's appropriate and strong enough and what size posts needed etc.
He should source and supply the materials needed and should also know when the ground is in the right condition to be able to do the work properly.

Fencing is so expensive, def pays to shop around but also ask around, my neighbour's cheap fence fell down within 6 months!
