Did you have a For Sale sign?

Just wondering how many others who've sold recently had a For Sale sign? Do you think they're really beneficial given many people look online or enquire at local agents?

Half the properties in our area don't seem to have them.

There are never for sale signs on our road - we are a very small cul de sac and nobody would see them from the main road, two house up for sale at the moment and nary a sign. But there are three houses for sale on the main road, and they don't have signs either.

I have one. Mostly I think it'll be handy for viewers to help them find the house, and it makes you look serious about selling, which is always a good thing.

Thanks for your comments (so far). We're 50/50 about having one. Luckily our house is quite distinctive and clear from the road, will have another think though.

Get one! People will drive round areas they like to look for houses. Then contact the agent. Without a sign your house is off the market. It also makes it a lot easier for viewers to find your house.

What reasons might you have for NOT having one? It doesn't make sense to me to not have one because even if you only miss out on a small percentage of buyers that way, surely every extra one helps?

If you're not bothered either way then have one.

It would be a 24 hour marketing tool. It can only help.

The only people I know that didn't have a 'for sale' sign were a couple who were getting divorced and they didn't want to have to tell all the neighbours until their house was under offer. Agree with other posters that a sign makes it look like you do actually want to sell.
