Hello we live in the south east at the mo and although we love being close to London we are starting to struggle too cover the crazy high 1,800 per month rent with both of us working flat out with a small child. We are looking to move to Weston Super Mare and I have fallen in love with the flats in the Royal Crescent. We are trying to get a much better work life balance.Does anybody know what it like to live there? Any advice on junior schools please? I would love to get any advice from you guys.Thank you!

The buildings in the crescent are lovely and the prices seem very reasonable, but tbh, I'm not a fan of Weston in general. I don't live there and so I'm only going by day trips, but I find it a bit grim. There's nothing inherently awful about it, it's like many UK seaside towns, just a bit rundown and very seasonal (horrendously busy in summer and a ghost town in winter). Not sure what the employment situation is in the area, have you looked into job opportunities?

I'm sure a local will be along in a bit to tell me that it's great and I know feck all (true, I'm going by my impressions of the place from short visits). I hope it is a nice place to live!

Friends that live there say it's gim but other friends there love it - very marmite sort of a place.

Massive house building going on there.

The local hospital is always in the news because it's so dire.

Some areas of the sea front are very run down.

Reasonably good shopping street - but not much of it. Very big superstores on outskirts.

I think Clevedon has more character.

We live 20 mins away from WSM, I go in when I have to ie to the bank or cinema (easier than central Bristol), but I think WSM is horrible, incredibly run down and I think it feels quite unsafe in some areas. The High Street is grim, nothing of any interest and nowhere you'd want to linger. There are loads of rehab hostels (apparently), so this may account for it.
There is alot of building - houses, DIY stores, supermarkets etc on the outskirts towards Worle but I cant see the actual town centre being improved any time soon.

Clevedon is gorgeous and on our list for when we leave London in a few years...
