Am I wasting my time asking for listed building consent/planning on G2 house?

We are just resubmitting some plans for our grade 2 listed house. It is listed by curtilage so has no actual listing reference and is a modern(ish) barn conversion. We originally asked for a small extension (rejected) but have changed this now to moving our staircase (modern) but the new application will involve knocking through some floorboards. Do I have any hope? Has anyone had success with knocking through walls or floorboards in a listed property?

Yes. We knocked through a toilet and airing cupboard to make an en-suite, we moved another bathroom and replaced some lath and plaster ceilings with metal laths. All permitted.

It's worth having an informal chat with the conservation officer to see what their provisional view is. If its curtilage only I would be surprised if the local authority got really worked up about internal alterations.

That's what I was kind of hoping - that it was only the outward appearance on the 'proper' listing. Thanks for the boost!
