Flat Roof Extension

Would you buy a home with a flat roof extension? Something is niggling me about them, are they more prone to leak, and require more maintenance that a tiled roof?

If anyone has any experience of them I would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks.

Older flat roofs with tar felt type covering are going to be a problem at some stage as the material breaks down. Fibreglassed roofs are much better as they are pretty well sealed. The big problem can be where a flat roof joins the wall, but then you can also have problems at the junction of the vertical wall and any kind of roof covering if the leadwork has not been done properly or has been done 20 years ago and has started to deteriorate.
