Harvey Jones Linear - what colour would you choose?

I about to start planning for a hand painted kitchen.

The room is quite dark with very little natural light.

What colour would you go for? I have no idea where to start.

Are you including a lighting plan that incorporates task lighting and in addition daylight bulbs, that can be left on during the daytime ?! If you aren't then I'd suggest a pale and slightly shiny colour to bounce what little light you have around the room - if you addressing the lack of lighting with daylight bulbs than you can have what ever floats your boat !
