It says on the website that the styles are mainly the same as Faktum so I'm not sure how different they're going to be Confused

Tyranasaurus · 01/02/2014 15:23

The door styles are all the same, it's the cabinet parts which have changed. They are sized differently- the base cabinets are taller (so less plinth space below) and there are more different drawer options.

Badvoc · 01/02/2014 15:38

Ah! Is that why they have stopped selling the udden cabinets?

iggymama · 01/02/2014 15:41

I hope to buy an IKEA kitchen later this year, but sadly cannot get there ATM to view the new kitchens.

If anyone who goes wants to post their opinions here I would be eternally grateful. I am particularly keen to know the usable space inside the various drawer options. The skinny ones look very funky but I wonder whether they will hold anything more than cutlery or utensils.

If anyone would be kind enough to pick me up the kitchen brochures and post them to me I would gladly PayPal you a tenner to cover your costs.

MummytoMog · 01/02/2014 18:06

Get the online catalogue on the ikea app if you can, I just got the new brochure, and I'm glad I already ordered my kitchen tbh...

Saw some of the range instore last night, don't like it, only 20, 40, 60, 80 cm width cabinets what happened to 30 & 50 cm. However seems to be fitted to wall using fixing track which looked good.

VoiceoversSoundSmug · 01/02/2014 18:57

Which store was this seb1?

BigWellyLittleWelly · 01/02/2014 18:58

If one isn't familiar with the ikea kitchen names it looks like there are some entertaining auto correct fails on this thread!

As you were

Glasgow though most bays were still closed off, though you could see the part with just the cabinets in to show what they are like inside, if you look on Ikea egypt site new system is shown in english

OnePlanOnHouzz · 01/02/2014 20:38

If anyone is interested - designed my first new Ikea kitchen for a client - here's a link to check it out ! Client delighted ! I must admit I wanted to put more worksurface in - but the client preferred more storage - and there's certainly plant of that !!!

I actually like that look of a bank of ceiling to floor wall units. Are you not boxing in the boiler in the utility room?

OnePlanOnHouzz · 14/02/2014 20:37

No - she wanted no wall units or anything fancy in there ! She's going to have craft stuff on the walls from her old craft room I think !

BitWorriedNow · 14/02/2014 20:43

I am sure it will be fantastic, looks great.

OnePlanOnHouzz · 14/02/2014 20:50

Thanks ! Am so glad I broke up that high wall with the open shelves - would have been too overbearing without I think !

ContentedSidewinder · 15/02/2014 08:47

I think it looks fantastic. But I agree with you about the worktop space, I think people forget it isn't just about food prep but about plating up too. My old tiny kitchen had a hob and then either side had just one 600mm unit, half of one had the kettle and toaster, it wasn't big enough especially when I came to plate up for 8 people or even 6!

I like the way you broke up the large bank of wall units with the open shelves. Personally I would have made them wall units and had a fab run of worktop, but I love the symmetry. I did my kitchen last year with Ikea units and all of the base units are 600mm wide! I do love symmetry Grin

BitWorriedNow · 15/02/2014 08:50

Contended, you plate up for 8 people? Why don't you cook in take to table servers and let go of the food control? Grin

poocatcherchampion · 15/02/2014 11:40

thanks for sharing oneplan. I tend to agree with you about the work surface - there is a lot going on on that island.

looks lovely though
