Will this make our lounge too dark?

We are doing a full length back extension on our bungalow this year. The kitchen and lounge are next to each other and the house is semi detached with high fences in the back garden. Our lounge will end up being 28ft by 12ft but only the garden end will have natural light. The extension part will make up half the length and will have big doors at the end and a large skylight in the ceiling (flat roof). I am just concerned the other end will be dark and dingy. Or am I over thinking it?

You can always add a lamp with a daylight bulb in it ? Light travels longer and lower in the winter so you might find it's not as bad as you think it might be !?!
You can also use lighter paint colour in the 'darker ' end - and darker paint colour in the lighter end ! If you use the same colour in different shades it will blend really well

We have a similar set-up and put LED downlighters in "dark" end. Has made a massive difference.

Both great ideas thanks :) Since our lounge is south facing I am hoping the dark end will be a respite area from the heat in summer!

How do you use the space if you have a similar size lounge yomellamoHelly?
