Hi - we live in a 1930s bungalow with a similar bungalow on one side and a two storey semi on the other. The loft was already converted on the cheap when we moved in, giving one tiny (child size) bedroom with a very sloping ceiling, a box room you have to practically limbo into, and a half decent child's bedroom at the back, again with sloping ceilings but built within a hideous wooden 'shed' style dormer. After more than a year of fruitlessly trawling Rightmove, we've decided that rearranging the conversion is a better bet for the £££ (location, neighbours and plot size are fine) - we need an extra loo/shower (only one of each at the moment!), and two decent bedrooms that will suit teenagers.
Anyone in a similar place, and had hip to gable or mansard extensions done, or raised the roof? Would you mind please sharing your plans with me ?? I just need an idea of what might be possible before I contact the professionals! (I've had a couple of meetings with architects on other things and they seemed really vague about possibilities, so I'm assuming I have to ask for what I want and they say what can be done based on that?) There has to be some solution here - can't bear to waste savings on stamp duty without any major gain from moving, and that's how it's looking.
