After v smokey evenings we are giving up on 2 large inglenook open fires and fitting log burners. Wanted 2 diff ones. Lots of heat. Big and good visibility. Just had someone over.
rec open dovre thing for look.
(have looked at reviews and they are rubbish for heat)
and euroheat Harmony 43
(read reviews and the glass seems to be an issue.
Anyone got any ideas? The Burley Wakerly got good reviews?
I would really like them to be as big as poss as the fireplaces are hugh.

You need to look at the info that comes with the brochures. Or take advice from fitters.
There is a great online site which tells you how to measure you room- width x height x length then divide by something- think it's 15 for an old house and 25 for a new house and this gives you the Kwatts you need from a stove to heat the room.

don't just guess.

Definitely take professional advice. We nearly went for one far too big because we liked the look of it.
We have an enamel Jotel in our inglenook, it looks lovely.

We had a Morso Owl fitted before xmas, love it! A friend has a larger Morso, can't remember which one, but I'd definitely recommend the Morso brand.

The model would depend on your room dimensions.

did you need building regulations to get them fitted?

amazonianwoman · 29/01/2014 11:10

It was installed by a HETAS qualified guy, he lined the existing chimney too. Didn't need building regs.

Ours was installed by our builder. Building regs had to come & sign it off because he wasn't HETAS registered. Was straightforward.

I've got the 5kw Burley and my parents have the 8kw model. Both working well and the vortex flame looks pretty.
They heat up quickly as they're steel rather than cast iron and really kick out some heat. You really do need to size appropriately for the room though or risk it getting unbearably hot.

Our fitter recommended Aarow, and Esse if you've got a bit to spend and then Firefox for a good budget version.
