How long did you take to find a property when you had accepted an offer?

We had an offer accepted 2.5 weeks ago but the vendor hasn't found anything yet. Just wondering how long it should take for them to find something.

They're elderly and will be cash buyers looking to get a bungalow or ground floor flat so wouldn't go into rented accomodation.

How long is a piece of string?

It took us 5 months! And we weren't being fussy, just looking in a restricted area. We also dropped leaflets through doors of houses we liked. Our buyers were amazingly patient and in short term rented, so we were lucky.
There really is no way of knowing. It just depends on the right house coming onto the market

Impossible to say! What is the property market generally like where you are? Around here, there is almost nothing on the market and what is available seems to have been hanging around for months, mostly for a good reason, like an electricity pylon at the end of the garden.

It's hard to say, but I'm sure they're looking as they have a buyer they won't want to loose. At the same time, as we all know, it's got to be as right as possible. I'd say try and be patient for a month and review things with them then. If you have a buyer for yours, do keep in touch with them so they know what's happening and you can gage their reaction.

Thanks all - we're FTB and I'm allowing myself to be scared by my DM saying that they would have found something by now if they were serious.

I am a little concerned that the mortgage seems to be going through quite quickly and we should have an offer this week. The broker says it will be valid for 3 months from offer - is this strict?

We accepted our offer in Aug last year. We're still looking! We had found somewhere but have just pulled out because of survey problems. However we moved into rented to keep our buyers when it became apparent we wouldn't be able to line up both ends of the transaction.

Took us a year and a half. Lost 4 properties. Our sellers took 8 months. We moved into rental to keep our buyers. But around here a 4 bed house comes up every 6 months or so. Really slow...
