Hi, my husband has an interview for a job in Harlow. I don't the area at all- can anyone in the know offer any suggestions of places to live around there that are close to train stations and good schools?! I'm after a safe lovely place to bring up my dds.

Sawbridgeworth, Bishop's Stortford. These are in Herts but are very close to Harlow and both locations have train stations. Old Harlow is very nice, not sure how far/close it us to the train station though.

Does your DH need to commute by train into Harlow?

MrsAMerrick · 25/01/2014 09:53

It depends how far your dh wants to drive to work. Is Saffron Walden too far? I think it's beautiful there, lovely houses and schools, quaint shops and nice countryside. Plus good access to Cambridge if you fancy a bit of culture. But it would be a bit of a drive to Harlow.

Epping is quite nice and an easy drive to Harlow (and on the tube line). I wouldn't live in Harlow.

You could look at some of the villages around Harlow such as Sheering or high wych. bishops stortford probably has the best schools, and the secondary schools in harlow are not great.

Excellent- thanks for the suggestions. Which villages around Harlow are nice? Saffron Waldorf is lovely but sadly too far

We commute from Cheshunt to Harlow by car and sometimes by train. There are two train stations in Harlow but they are both on the same line which goes up to Cambridge. It takes 15 minutes by train and 30 minutes by car. Broxbourne is nice with good trains and has good schools. Train is about 10 minutes to Harlow and 20 minute car ride.
Roydon is just outside Harlow and also has a train station into Harlow.

Forgot to say from Roydon and Nazing you can access Hertfordshire schools.
