Would black appliances look ok in an ivory kitchen?

So relieved to have nearly all decisions made regarding new kitchen .... last hurdle is to pick the appliances. The main part of the kitchen is a country style in ivory with a black "granite effect" laminate worktop. I don't like integrated appliances so have to choose appliance colours [yawn]. The fridge freezer and double oven will be next to each other and I am tempted to have both black as the worktop is black but a search here has shown people favour stainless steel with ivory (although no recent treads!). The island will be sage green with an oak worktop and I am getting worried that the kitchen will be a hotch potch of colours. So would appreciate any opinions on this (for my sanity sake as am fed up with making decisions Thanks)

Thanks for replying! I think I could do with some of your drugs if they work that well Grin Your comment re strong colours is what I'm worried about but am running out of ideas. The FF and oven wont be side by side so that wont be the issue but colour wise wont stainless steel be just as bad. Integrating the ff just seems a waste as they are more expensive for less space, so Confused at this stage

Oh this seems like such a trivial first world problem! I dont like white appliances .... not even sure why. I saw a s/s ff today that doesnt need polishing whereas the black one smeared easily. The kitchen guy has said to get ss as the sink is ss, I had forgotten about the colour of the * sink. Maybe I should get one of each and make the overall colour scheme look totally meh! Have to decide by tomorrow.

I think it would be nicer than ss or white.

I have black appliances in my green kitchen and they look great.

Why don't you change your island to match your units and worktop?

Huitre · 23/01/2014 23:21

Too many colours. Also I think those black granite worktops are a bit dated. I'd have a look at either wood (real cheap wood, like IKEA, if you haven't got lots to spend) or something like Corian if your budget can stretch to it.

Also, why would you have an island in totally different colours to the rest of the kitchen? I don't really like them anyway but I think it would be particularly grating in a random colour.

Sorry.

Thanks for all your replies, I really appreciate them. Yes I'll have to relook at all the mish mash of colours its too complicated. Oops there I was thinking all the decisions were mad.
