Wooden floor for hall

Please help me with my final decorating decision - have lost my decorating mojo after 5 years transforming our wreck Hmm

I want a wooden floor for our hallway. Can't use floorboards as they are a mess. Happy with engineered or real wood I think. Walls are Little Greene French Grey. Staircase is their Dark Lead colour. Rest of wood work is white. I want something hardwearing and that won't show dirt too badly. It's a three bed Victorian terrace if that helps. Was wondering if I could go quite dark oak/walnut or does that show dirt too? Would it make hallway very dark? Any suggestions and specific suppliers hugely appreciated - thank you!

Dark floors show dirt and scratches more and they do make a space look darker as they absorb light. With that said, they can be beautiful but if those are your concerns they might not be for you!

Natural Flooring Company has loads of great options.

I have a pale light oak wooden floor in the hall and it's lovely. It makes the hallway light and airy and doesnt show the dirt.

We have solid bamboo in our hall, but it is a walnut colour, quite dark brown. It is lacquered though which seems to bounce the light around. Its been down 3.5 years, still looks great. Doesn't show dirt too much and easy to clean - just a quick sweep.
