Kitchen flooring

So... The kitchen floor quote is too much ££££ - 26m square of vinyl plank was 1k inc ply lining :(

We just can't afford it, but need an alternative that is hard wearing for a large kitchen diner- any ideas please?

What is your budget?

DIddled · 22/01/2014 08:20

Was hoping for about £700?

We're having tiles done-bought using tesco club card points. Only adhesive and labour to pay.

OliviaBenson · 22/01/2014 08:49

That works out about £38 per sq m all in. I don't actually think that's too bad. I wouldn't scrimp on a kitchen floor (in our house it takes a lot of flack!)

Could you try and negotiate them down abit? Or cut back on something else?

MummytoMog · 22/01/2014 09:50

Was that including labour? Do you want wood/wood effect?

DIddled · 22/01/2014 20:53

I know:( I might have to bite the bullet- it did include fitting. Just seems such a big chunk when we are down to the last money :(

What brand did you price on? Amtico and Karndean are £££ but they also manufacture Spacia and another one that I can't remember the name of that are basically the same but not as wide a range.
Fwiw, we pushed the boat out and plumped for 'oak' Karndean and have never regretted it. Two years on it is like brand new.

Earthwerks which is supposed to be as good. Amtico and karndean are even more expensive.

It's the additional cost of ply lining which is bumping it up.
