Removing a porch?

In the process of buying a Victorian terraced house. There is a beautiful old front door and tiling which current owners have inexplicably disguised with a sloping roof enclosed porch with sliding glass doors.

Want to remove it but unsure how simple a job this will be - we are totally inexperienced (but willing) DIYers. We don't have much budget but we do have time (Home Educators so around most of the time and a free supply of child labour Wink ), brute strength and access to YouTube!

A further complication is that the roof is joined to the roof of the neighbour's equally hideous porch.

Any ideas as to how feasible a job this will be?

the trickiest bit will be the neighbours roof. but my advice would be to not do anything until you have lived in the house for a little while.
although ugly it is probably very practical as somewhere to take off muddy boots and, more importantly, keep out drafts....
see how you feel about it when you have lived there for a few months.

Yes, the impact on hearing bill is a consideration but it's just horrid. There's a utility room for boots etc so not worried about that.

We have lots more to do inside the house so yes, good idea to wait and see about the porch while we address more pressing matters!

I guess it'd be useful to build a relationship with the neighbours before we start dicking about with their porch, too.
