Is there such a thing as a nice corner bath?

The house we've looked at has a revolting grey bath with gold handles and despite the fact we're considering moving the upstairs layout around a corner bath would be the best option for a lot of the set ups.

Is there such a thing as a nice corner bath? One that doesn't look like a vulva?

No, they are naff and horrible. My parents have one and it also seems shallower than normal baths but I'm not sure if it's an illusion because its wider.

I would think twice about buying a house with a corner bath. If you can fit a normal bath in, then do so. Some companies do baths that are shorter than standard length, which would be better.

OnePlanOnHouzz · 19/01/2014 09:57

Worst case scenario replace it with a Japanese oforu deep soak tub - they are smaller but deeper ! So you can soak up to your neck ! Otherwise scrap the bath idea completely and have a fantastic all singing all dancing shower instead !!

MrsJohnDeere · 19/01/2014 22:57

No.

Just been looking at houses and we rejected all houses with corner baths (where it didnt look like you could replace it with a normal one) without even viewing them.

No Grin

snowgirl1 · 19/01/2014 23:29

No, they're seriously naff in my opinion.

RCheshire · 20/01/2014 00:00

No

Thants · 20/01/2014 00:03

This is madness! Corner baths are awesome I really want one! So much more space and you can bath share easily too. Grin

BananaNotPeelingWell · 20/01/2014 00:08

Changing a bath is easily achieved. It wouldn't put me off a house.

LondonGirl83 · 20/01/2014 09:34

Personally I think they are ugly

PrimalLass · 20/01/2014 09:57

No.

We do have a 1600 length bath however (a Bette one). It is deeper so we don't notice the shorter length.

noddyholder · 20/01/2014 10:00

Clearwater do a heart shaped f/s one with claw feet which some people like

ItsATIARA · 20/01/2014 10:02

You can have a plain white one - they looks bit medical but they're not vile. They're v useful for two younger children (or a parent and a toddler (or two adults) sharing a bath - the problem is that they do use up a lot of water if you want a deep soak.

ohhifruit · 20/01/2014 11:50

I had no idea you could get anything less than the standard size bath! I've had a look and a smaller, deeper bath could fit in the space well.

My DH is 6ft4 so there could be an issue there if he was fussy, however he is strictly a shower man and tends only to have a shower after a rough rugby match. I on the other hand need to have one to ease my poor joints so we can't go shower only.

If you also go for a smaller bath that is D shaped and has a shower end, then you would both be happy.

CMOTDibbler · 20/01/2014 11:57

We have an offset corner bath - so the bath itself is the conventional shape, but long and deep, but in a corner shaped bath. I love mine

minipie · 20/01/2014 12:36

I'm not sure why everyone is so against them! I think they're fine, they just have a bit of an 80s association I think but if it's a decent size, modern and white (and ideally not too plasticky) it should look fine.

This one looks quite nice.

PrimalLass · 20/01/2014 13:19

Actually I don't hate that one minipie.

StuckOnARollercoaster · 20/01/2014 18:42

I used to think they were the height of naffness till I moved in with DP and he has one. Was remarkably handy for two of us (ahem!) and the shelf to sit on to shave my legs! But really came into its own when pg and now with the little one. We have long term plans to change to a walk in shower and regular free standing bath but suddenly I'm in no hurry to do that bit of diy!!

poocatcherchampion · 22/01/2014 17:37

hate them.even when pregnant or with one or 2 babies in with me every night. and a double ender is what you need for 2 adults imo
