Victorian door furniture - replace or repair?

We're renovating a Victorian terrace house. All the interior door furniture is painted over and doesn't work. Out of curiosity i've taken one apart, to see if it can be fixed, but all the interior bits (not that there are many, there doesn't even seem to have been a spring - is this normal) are worn. Is it worth while trying to source replacement parts? I'm reluctant to put on a different handle as all the holes will be in a different place, if you see what I mean.

How about replacing the door with one of a similar age but in better nick?

We're moving to a Victorian house too and the letter box is missing (yes you should have a spring, really, but they are Ok without)

The hole is badly cut and huge
I am going to put on another one (from ebay/etsy - lots of nice vintage ones) for now, then replace the door when we find a nice one on ebay that will fit.

If you door is otherwise in good condition then either look for a similar sized thing (ask seller how far apart holes are - some say in the listing anyway) or try and have the original repaired.

I have had great fun trying to source a lovely old door knocker and so on. Enjoy

Oh it is a handle, sorry, had no idea what you meant for a bit there! Yes plenty of original handles in great condition also on ebay. Or try any architectural salvage yard. Or locksmith - our brilliant locksmith has a huge stock of old locks and handles. They are normally happy to try and find you a replacement if you take in the old one.
