Do you have good neighbours?

I think we've got really good neighbours. We all take parcels in for eachother, have a chat when we've got time and keep an eye on eachother's properties. One of my immediate neighbours is hardly there but will feed our cats if needed while we're away. Our other immediate neighbour has the key all the time, we take bins in for each other, take deliveries of parcels and larger goods, water plants while away and they are my first port of call for feeding my cats and look after them really well, making sure they see each every day and popping back in if they haven't.

I know this takes a while to build up, but we're about to move and I know some aren't so lucky - had to drive 5 miles to put my sister-in-law's bin in last year as she didn't feel she could approach a neighbour.

My neighbours on one side are lovely and have gone the extra mile so many times. The others are perfectly nice though they only tend to communicate with us if they want to complain.
We're moving soon and I'm going to miss the first lot!

Next door but one are lovely and while we don't pop in for coffee or anything we keep an eye out for each others houses, move bins etc

Next door never speak, blank me if we are outside at the same time or anything and I have no idea why

I did a lot of work on the house when I first moved in but kept it to 9-4 on weekdays and 10-5 on Saturdays, no noise on Sundays. Gave them 4 weeks notice when I was getting the roof done, asked them if they wanted work done while the roofer was here, they said no so I paid to have the flashing done on my side of their chimney stack. -the last day the roofer was there they asked him to remove the chimney stack!

They aren't considerate with DIY noise and I've been woken at 8am on a Sunday morning several times by banging and crashing, they removed the interior chimney breast without informing me and no party wall agreement

I'm not entirely sure what I've done wrong as the people I bought my house from told me they were lovely!

We have nice neighbours all round (small private drive). I think it helps that we are new build so all moved in within a couple of months of each other.
We aren't in each others pockets but will take in parcels, keep an eye on houses, feed cats, lend each other stuff, help with each others cars. The couple next door have a DS a year older than DD, so they go to each others parties etc.
It does make a huge difference having nice neighbours.

Yes, they're great neighbours. Ever so slightly bonkers and they have awful taste in garden ornaments and car stickers, but they're very kind and thoughtful people.

One reason we chose to live here was due to the neighbours being friendly when we were viewing and the fact that they look after their front and back gardens.

Blimey, is the mark of a good neighbour taking a parcel in? On what grounds could anyone reasonably refuse to do that ?

Nice neighbours here. Elderly on both sides and both are very understamding about balls going over into their beautiful gardens from my football mad boys. I used to work for a Neighbourhood dispute team and know the hell it can cause so i am very keen to keep them happy. I am chatty, pass on our old toys and books for their grandchildren, invite the lady who is widowed over for an occasional coffee etc. I also
walk another neighbours dog if they are both away with work. They feed my cat when we go on holiday. Overall we are a neighbourly lot round here but no one is trying to be best friends ( phew!)

Having said that I had a bizarre experience recently where I had to introduce my next door neighbour to another day who lives 4 doors down. They had never spoken to each other even though one had lived in her house for 25 years and the other for 28! They are both nice friendly people who had similar aged children so I don't now how they had managed to miss each other. They blamed being out at work all day and having high hedges!

The very best. In and out of each other's houses with and without kids. I'd say they've become actual FRIENDS. I will be devastated if they leave - they make a big diffference to our quality of home enjoyment. Other side - perfectly pleasant and polite and we'd do favours for each other but never going to go and get blind drunk on a birthday with them.
I moved into my previous place because of the neighbour - bought the flat next to a friend. We had a shared garden; was mayhem with open doors for parties and a proper mi casa / su casa vibe. He wasn't sadly compatible with family life though!

Mine are great - not only did they feed my cat last week but realised I hadn't put my bin out and went to find it, put it out and put it away again. I was utterly delighted when their house sale fell through and they decided not to move away.
