Building a Porch

We are considering having a porch built.

We would comply with the standard 3m2 but want it brick construction with windows rather than UPVC. We would move our existing front door to be the porch front door as it's way too beautiful not to show off (wink) and then add a new front door between the porch and the house.

Anyone have any idea what it may cost approx? We already have power externally so that wouldn't need to be added and drainage doesn't appear to be an issue but of course this would need to be professionally checked.

So tempted to go and learn to be a builder....!

If you have a spare 20 plus years, Wink

How long is a price of string is the honest answer without a lot more details.

I paid £3K in 1999 for brick double-skinned, pitched, tiled roof, concrete floor, radiator, UPVc front door with fittings, outside light, rejigged concrete path outside. Reused an existing UPVc window.

That included drawings and planning permission (no devolved?? rights on my estate).

One tip - the front door is off-central to allow a space on one side for coats to hang. If you put the front door centrally within the porch you limit the storage options.

I'm currently having a porch built on my back door for around £1.2k.
