Natwest survey- results not given...

Does anyone have experience of getting a mortgage through Natwest? We have ours, and paid upfront for survey fee and admin for survey, and it took place last week on the place we're buying (unbeknownst to us!). We have then spent all week chasing our mortgage advisor who seemed a bit puzzled by the fact that we not only wanted to know whether survey meant mortgage approved or not, but that we expected to know details of it and ideally receive a copy of the report... This happened with our last mortgage through a different lender- is this normal for us to pay for it and then know nothing in return!?!? Seems a bit crazy, despite it only being the bog standard homebuyers survey. Is this standard practise for Natwest???

You won't be told when the survey's being done, your payment will activate the survey. Also you wouldn't necessarily be given the results of the survey, it's really for the benefit of the lender. You are entitled to a copy though. Survey doesn't mean mortgage approved, it means you're approved but not the house. The survey wll approve the house. The survey may then request further reports which you'll be asked to pay for, eg electrical, timber & damp etc. it's then up to you whether you take it any further or not.
