Colour Scheme with Green Carpet

Hoping someone can visualise this and give me some advice.

My new house has a less than year old green carpet in the living room. It's very good quality and comfy to sit on with DD and I expect it was a lot more expensive than we'd be able to afford if we replaced it with a neutral colour so i'd like to keep it. I'd like to keep it for at least a few years while my DC are small.

What colour scheme would go with it for walls and curtains? It's a large, light room so could take a rug or one of those upholstered coffee table thingios to break up the carpet.

My sofas are brown fabric and the furniture is light oak.... Will I be able to incorporate them into a colour scheme?

Looking at 2 year old DD eating crackers on the sofa it would make sense to keep everything for a few more years rather than worry about new furniture.

I'd do walls in a milky white , more forgiving than stark white, and neutral creamy curtains. Keep your brown sofas and oak furn. Perhaps add a dash of colour in some scatter cushions? Depends what shade of green it is. If it's a soft sage green you could add Coleman's mustard. If it's a brighter jade green you might want a softer accent colour, maybe a pale coral. You could also pull the accent colour in somewhere else, a lampshade perhaps.

Sounds great thank you twins. I can only do colour schemes when I have a clean slate to work with.

I think you'd say the carpet is eau di nil??

The room is a bad, dirty sort of cream at the moment and it's painted over patterned wallpaper so it really needs doing.

There is a lovely fireplace though so it's not all doom and gloom.

Good luck
Fresher colours will I'm sure transform it. And the carpet won't look so dismal. I think yellow, sort off egg yolk would look quite good. Or perhaps a cerise pink?
Hope it works out.
