High seated sofa

I have a really bad back and am currently in a lot of pain from visiting a relative with low sofas.
We are moving in the next few months into our own house and although our sofa isn't awful I would like to buy a higher seated sofa suite which will last.
Is it a case of just trying them out? I like the look of a few ikea sofas but am not near any of them.
I'm 5ft 7 and any recommendations welcome.

TIA

There won't be a lot around, but it's worth looking at places like DFS,SCS and other furniture shops. We got ours from SCS. Alternatively, would Ikea be do-able as a day trip so you could get an idea.

Am the same height as you & DH is few inches taller. I have poor knees & he has a poor back. We've got an inexpensive sofa from IKEA with memory foam in the seats & also is a bit taller & firmer than average sofas. Huge cushioned armrests & a high back (so you could rest your head on the sofa rather than hold it in position while watching TV). Works really well. Will look up the name & re-post.

IKEA do home delivery when you order online I think!

Ok, it's called TIDAFORE & comes in a range of 2/3/5 seat options, also has a footstool which can create a flexible chaise option.

Have had ours for 2 years & no sign of the foam going soft. It's as firm as new. The back also has memory foam so that's very firm too.
We got 2 singles from IKEA - a more regular sofa option & those are just about beginning to feel soft & lose support!
