Hello, can anyone give me some advice on where to live/avoid in the Alton area please? Moving due to job commitments but don't know the area. I've read loads of 'reviews' about it being full of chavs and a horrible place but the few times we've been to look it seemed lovely........have two secondary school kids as well so any advice on what they can do greatly appreciated, many thanks

I've been there as part of a holiday, ages ago. The main street looked lovely but a couple of the pubs were rough as hell.

Nearby Alresford (part of the Watercress Line dream train route) was really nice - maybe look there, too.

Holybourne is a nice village - we lived there for a few months (but many years ago).
It's a lovely area and you are quite close to Farnham, Winchester and even Southampton (for serious shopping).
I commuted to Ascot/Windsor area daily.
Ditto Arlesford - lovely.
